Charlottesville Garden Club: Maintains a calendar of events, and links to other garden clubs in the area.
Fluvanna County Master Gardeners
Garden Club of Virginia: Runs Historic Garden Week in Virginia each spring, among other projects. Headquartered in Richmond, Virginia.
Greene County Master Gardeners
Louisa County Master Gardeners (part of Master Gardeners of the Central Rappahannock Area).
Nelson County Master Gardeners
Piedmont Master Gardeners: Serving the City of Charlottesville and the Counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson.
Virginia Master Gardener Association: Founded 1990. State-wide association of Master Gardeners and Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) employees whose mission is to foster communication, education and fellowship among Master Gardeners, and to give support and input to the state leaders of our VCE effort.
Virginia Native Plant Society: Headquartered at Blandy Farm, the state arboretum in Boyce, Virginia. Educational programs, trips and tours, plant sales.
NATIONAL and INTERNATIONAL (selected)
American Horticultural Society: Founded 1922. Headquartered at River Farm in Alexandria, Virginia. Publishes books and bi-monthly magazine, The American Gardener. Workshops. Seed exchange program. Reciprocal admissions program to dozens of public gardens, including Lewis Ginter in Richmond.
American Orchid Society: Founded 1921. Orchids magazine; culture info; e-mail list; books; shows. Headquartered in Delray Beach, Florida.
Garden Conservancy: National nonprofit organization founded in 1989 to “preserve exceptional American gardens for the public’s education and enjoyment.” Sponsors the Open Days program annually. Charlottesville area will be featured on May 19, 2007.
National Gardening Association: Searchable online library, including articles from its magazine, gardening links, a section for teachers & others working with children's garden-based learning (& links), a mail-order gardening guide, gardening questions answered by email.
