Since 1989, the Piedmont Master Gardeners Association has been bringing together VCE Master Gardeners in Central Virginia to share gardening wisdom, enjoy camaraderie, learn new skills, and contribute to local communities through dozens of volunteer activities.
Our members run the gamut from full-time farmers to 'weekend warriors' . . . from young parents to high-energy seniors. What we all have in common is a passion for 'playing in the dirt' and a desire to give something back to our neighborhoods, towns, and parks. Every member of PMG volunteers a minimum of twenty hours each year to create or maintain public landscaping, teach classes or workshops, or answer the public's questions on a wide variety of gardening topics. Our demonstration garden in Charlottesville---"The Rock"---is just one of many projects designed and driven by PMG volunteers.
Please explore our Reference Desk for gardening tips and hands-on help, our THREE Calendars of Events for happenings here and nearby, and our Volunteer Projects to see what PMG is doing in your community. Bookmark our website, too, and plan to drop by regularly to enjoy the latest gardening news, resources, and events in the area!...........We look forward to helping you have a fabulous garden in 2010!

!! 7,181 hours! That's how many volunteer hours our 128 PMG members contributed to 29 community projects in 2009! Our work adds up to more than $145,000 in service! We also polished our plant expertise by logging 2208 hours of continuing ed. Congrats!
!! Attention PMG members! For a refresher on how to submit your hours, click here. Submitting your volunteer and continuing ed hours is VERY important. Peter Warren needs to report our total hours to state-level officials. Also, if you fail to report your hours you risk being purged from PMG's rolls!
