In an ongoing effort to share knowledge and empower communities, Piedmont Master Gardeners is pleased to offer the opportunity for our website to be translated into any language, by anyone, in real time via the Google Translate extension. If you aren’t familiar with Google Translate, follow our tutorial below.Â
1. Getting the ExtensionVisit the Chrome Web Store to download the extension. It doesn’t matter what browser you are using — you still need the extension from the Chrome Web Store. Or, click on the button below to access it.
Once you are there, click “Add to Chrome” to add the extension to your browser (up at the top of your computer.) A box will pop up that says “Add Google Translate?” Click the blue “Add Extension” button. A new box will appear that says, “Google Translate has been added.” You’ll see a puzzle piece to the right of your browser bar (your extension tool), and depending on your extension settings, you may or not see the blue icon with a white G on it. If you don’t see it, click on the puzzle piece to verify it is there.Â
2. Using the ExtensionOn piedmontmastergardeners.org (or any subpage), double-click and you’ll have a menu pop up. About halfway down, there will be an option that says “Translate” or “Translate to English.” Click that and back up near browser bar, depending on your browser, you’ll either see the blue icon with a white G or else a blue symbol. Click that and you will be given options to translate into any language. Select one, and the pages will change immediately to the language you have chosen.Â
